An introductory writing course focusing This writing course focuses on reading and writing assignments in the various discourse communities required in college.   This course is for first-year students who benefit from an introductory course developing develops skills for success in writing in college writing: elaboration, using and integrating sources, and developing a portfolio of polished prose. Students with an SAT   evidence-based reading and writing  score score below 480 or an ACT English score below 19 and high school English grades below B in junior and senior courses enroll at the introductory level.  Course does not satisfy the writing requirement. will be placed into WRIT 125. A grade of C- or better must be achieved in the course as a prerequisite for enrollment in WRIT 130135. Upon successful completion of the course, students will enroll in WRIT 130 135 College Writing II in order to complete EMU Core writing requirements.
