This writing course focuses on reading and writing assignments in the various discourse communities required in college. This This course develops skills for success in writing in college: elaboration, using and integrating sources, and developing a portfolio a portfolio of polished prose. A grade . Students with an SAT evidence-based reading and writing score below 480 or an ACT English score below 19 and high school English grades below B in junior and senior courses will be placed into WRIT 125. A grade of C- or better must be achieved in the course as a prerequisite for enrollment in WRIT 135. Upon successful completion successful completion of the course, students will enroll in WRIT 135 College Writing II in order to complete EMU Core writing requirementswriting requirements.
