An introductory writing course focusing This writing course focuses on reading and writing assignments in the various discourse communities required in college. This course is for first-year students who benefit from an introductory course developing  This course develops skills for success in writing in college writing. Students with an SAT evidence-based reading and writing score below 480 or an ACT English score below 19 and high school English grades below B in junior and senior courses enroll at the introductory level.  Course does not satisfy the writing requirement. A grade : elaboration, using and integrating sources, and developing a portfolio of polished prose. A grade of C- or better must be achieved in the course as a prerequisite for enrollment in WRIT 130135. Upon successful completion successful completion of the course, students will enroll in WRIT 130 135 College Writing II in order to complete EMU Core writing requirements.
