This first-year course develops academic reading, thinking, and writing skills in various discourse communities while
supporting while supporting students in their transition to EMU. Includes a research project with particular attention to analysis and
synthesis. First-year students with an SAT evidence-based reading and writing score of 480-670 or an ACT English score of 19-26 and high school English grades of A and B in junior and senior courses may place directly into College Writing II. Completion of this course satisfies the and synthesis. Satisfies EMU Core college writing requirement.
