If you have a computer, tablet, phone, or similar device

...

  1. Connect your computer or phone using the device specific instructions above.

  2. Find the MAC address of the smart TV, gaming device, Roku or similar device you want to connect.

    1. The MAC address can sometimes be found on the device packaging, in a menu on the device, or on a label on the device. If you are having trouble finding the MAC address, try Googling "MAC address" and the name of your device. The MAC address may also be referred to as Hardware Address, Physical Address, Ethernet Address, or Wired Address.  It will be a 12 digit combination of numbers and letters such as 00:3c:ec:29:9a:44 or 00-f0-cc-90-15-aa.

    2. There may be more than one MAC address depending on whether the device is capable of both wired and wireless access.  Choose the MAC address for the type of connectivity you wish to use.

  3. Register your device on the EMU Device Registration page at https://appsrv3.emu.edu/is/register-device/. Please be aware that you will be held responsible for all activity on this device.  If the device is used in a way that violates EMU policies, even if by someone else without your permission, it is still your responsibility.

    1. Login using your Royals username and password.

    2. Once logged in enter the MAC address of your device and select the device type from the list.

  4. After the MAC address of your device is registered, you can gain network access two ways:

    2. Connect via Ethernet

      1. Connect the device you registered above into the ethernet port in your room.  (Most residence hall rooms have three network ports on the wall.  The live one is usually the left port of the double port module.)
