  1. First connect your computer or phone.  You need to have this device connected first.

  2. Now you need to find the MAC address of your device.  If you don't know how to find this, try Googling "MAC address" and the name of your device. The MAC address may also be referred to as Hardware Address, Physical Address, Ethernet Address, or Wired Address.  It will be a 12 digit combination of numbers and letters such as 00:3c:ec:29:9a:44 or 00-f0-cc-90-15-aa.

  3. There may be more than one MAC address depending on whether the device is capable of both wired and wireless access.  Choose the MAC address for the type of connectivity you wish to use.

  4. Once you have the MAC address, you need to log in to the registration page at https://appsrv3.emu.edu/is/register-device/ and enter the MAC address.  Please be aware that you will be held responsible for all activity on this device.  If the device is used in a way that violates EMU policies, even if by someone else without your permission, it is still your responsibility.

  5. After the MAC address of your device is registered, you can gain network access through it in two ways:
    1. By obtaining the key for the wireless SSID EMU-iot.  The key will change at the beginning of every semester and is available when you log into my.emu.edu.
    2. By plugging it into the ethernet port in your room.  Most residence hall rooms have three network ports on the wall.  The live one is usually the left port of the double port module. If more than one live port is needed, contact the Helpdesk.
