The performance of students on academic probation will be reviewed by the director in consultation with faculty. The student may be denied continued enrollment or given conditional enrollment for the second semester. Within one calendar week following the review of a student’s academic program, the Director of Aviation will inform the student of any resulting action. Students may appeal all actions of the academic review process.

GROUND SCHOOL FINAL EXAM/FAA KNOWLEDGE TEST DEADLINES AND COMPLETION

Successful completion of knowledge tests is a key requirement for staying on schedule and allowing grades to be entered at the appropriate time.

Each ground school course associated with an FAA Knowledge Test will have a Knowledge Test deadline. The date of that deadline will be communicated to students in the syllabus and on the first day of class. In most cases, the deadline will be the end date of the semester. Any student who has not provided proof of a knowledge test score by the deadline will be assigned a grade of “0” for that task in the ground school course.  Grades will not be changed after that date.

If multiple test attempts are necessary, the grade entered in the ground school course will be an average of the scores from all attempts made before the deadline.

ATTENDANCE

If a student is unable to attend a class for health or other emergency reasons, the instructor may grant permission to attend via electronic means, or she/he may grant permission to accomplish course tasks through asynchronous assignments. Such arrangements shall be requested by the affected student, and must be approved by the instructor, as far in advance of the scheduled class day/time as possible.
