Semester Hours: 18

The pre-law minor is an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental minor designed to complement a variety of majors. It prepares students for a range of careers including the traditional practices of law, but it also builds upon EMU's historic emphases on peacebuilding, justice and global awareness, thus providing a strong background for careers in mediation, environmental law, international development, politics, human rights work, victim offender reconciliation, and juvenile justice. Pre-law minors are also expected to be actively involved in our pre-law society, Res Judicata, that organizes events to help students encounter a wide variety of legal professions, and provides resources to help students prepare for the LSAT exam that is required for admission into law school.
