Welcome to Eastern Mennonite University

Greetings and welcome to Eastern Mennonite University in 2020! I am glad you are here, and I believe your precious time among us at EMU will be filled with significant academic, spiritual, and social growth.

I know all our lives have been turned upside down in this first half of 2020 by the global pandemic. And yet amidst the disruption and disorientation, we have seen creativity and courage flourish from our resilient community of learners. We know “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble” (Psalms 46).  Our mission is unwavering. We are committed to "prepare students to serve and lead in a global context" in the spirit of Micah 6:8: "to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God."

Our faculty and staff will inspire and challenge you to take seriously our values of Christian discipleship, service, community, peace, and global engagement. You will grow in wisdom, faith, and compassion as you meet people from different cultures and with unique life experiences. You will make new friends for life as you prepare for a future career. You will leave a legacy as you shape our community in powerful and positive ways.
