EDS 371 Assessment, Evaluation and Planning in Special Education (3 SH)

A study of formal and informal diagnostic and evaluative procedures appropriate for children (K-12) with exceptional learning needs. Foci include understanding legal requirements for eligibility, providing prescriptions based on assessment data and general evaluation of instruction. This course has an emphasis on the development of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). A collaborative "team" approach to due process will be emphasized. A 20-hour clinical experience is required during which the student will use a case study approach to the development of IEP's. Prerequisites: EDS 301. (2 SH content; 1 SH practicum) (Spring 2021)
