Senior Practicum Student Roles and Responsibilities

Practicum students are expected to adhere to these roles and responsibilities:

  1. Work the hours agreed upon at the organizational site.
  2. The student commits to professional behavior in the setting at all times.
  3. Participate in daily informal supervision regarding tasks and weekly reflective supervision with designated field instructor.
  4. The student operates as a team player closely leaning on supervision when unsure what to do.
  5. The student remains a curious learner both personally and professionally freely asking questions with the goal to gain insight and grow.
  6. The student completes all required paperwork in the agency setting and for the seminar class in a professional, thorough and timely manner.
  7. Attend the weekly EMU seminar class.
  8. The student works from "best practice" standards following the NASW Code of Ethics.
  9. Demonstrate professional growth in social work competencies and practice skills according to Learning Contract.
  10. Cultivate self-care rituals and routines to prevent compassion fatigue.
