Senior Practicum Student Roles and Responsibilities
Practicum students are expected to adhere to these roles and responsibilities:
- Work the hours agreed upon at the organizational site.
- The student commits to professional behavior in the setting at all times.
- Participate in daily informal supervision regarding tasks and weekly reflective supervision with designated field instructor.
- The student operates as a team player closely leaning on supervision when unsure what to do.
- The student remains a curious learner both personally and professionally freely asking questions with the goal to gain insight and grow.
- The student completes all required paperwork in the agency setting and for the seminar class in a professional, thorough and timely manner.
- Attend the weekly EMU seminar class.
- The student works from "best practice" standards following the NASW Code of Ethics.
- Demonstrate professional growth in social work competencies and practice skills according to Learning Contract.
- Cultivate self-care rituals and routines to prevent compassion fatigue.
