FortiClient VPN

The VPN for iOS is called FortiClient and is available through the Apple store

Find and install it as you would any other

Once installed follow the steps below to configure the app.


To configure the client:

  1. Locate and
run
  1. open the FortiClient

  1. app on your iOS device.
  2. Upon opening you will need to
accept terms and conditions twice.A window will pop up saying "ForticlientVPN Would Like
  1. accept the FortiClient Terms of Service and Privacy Policy by tapping on the blue "I accept" button.
  2. On the next screen select "User Input" and enter the following then click "Done" in the upper right:
    1. Name - Your First and Last Name
    2. Email - Your EMU email address
    3. Phone - Your Phone Number (can be your office or cell phone) with a 1 in front
  3. Next you will see a screen with your name.  Tap on the blue "Next" button.
  4. Now you will be prompted by a pop-up that says "FortiClient" Would like to Add VPN Configurations". 
Select "Allow"
  1. Tap on Allow and unlock your phone.
  2. You
should see a screen with "VPN"
  1. will then be brought to a screen that has Zero Trust Telemetry at the top.
  Select "Connections" and then "Add Configuration...".
  1. Enter a Name for your VPN connection (for example: EMU VPN)
  2. Enter the host address: http://vpn-new.emu.edu.
  3. Select Hide invalid certificate warning.
Save your configured connection by clicking on "Save
  1. Tap on Specify IP.  On the next screen enter forticlient-ems.emu.edu for the Host and tap on "Done" at the top right
corner of the screen.Click "Done"

  2. Next tap on the toggle beside Zero Trust Telemetry Connection and the message at the top
right corner

and then "<VPN" at the top left corner of the screen.Now that the FortiClient VPN app is configured you can use the toggle beside "VPN" on the main screen to turn the VPN off and on.   When
  1. should change from "unlicensed" to "Centrally Managed by EMS" with a SN# underneath.  
    1. NOTE: if the app doesn't update try close and reopening the app
  2. Now tap on the VPN icon at the bottom of the screen and then tap on "select connection".  Under "Corporate VPN Gateway" select "EMU VPN" and then tap on the VPN icon at the bottom of the screen.

When connecting you will be prompted to enter you EMU username and password

.  You can verify you are connected to the VPN after you have entered your EMU credentials by looking at the status in the app (should show Connected) or by going to Settings ->VPNImage RemovedImage RemovedImage RemovedImage Removed

and use Multi-Factor Authentication.
