The behavior of materials and solid structures under a variety of load conditions will be studied in this course. Students will learn equilibrium, stress – strain response, and strain – displacement relations and apply them to solids analysis. Topics such as materials stretch, bend, twist, etc., the stress – strain response of different materials, the stress within externally loaded bodies, and beam theory with applications to beam deflections and design will be covered.
