The chapel experience at EMU represents our acknowledgment of God among us in the context of a liberal arts Mennonite Church university. University chapel nurtures members of the campus community in faith, hope and love as disciples of Jesus Christ. A community gathering place for worship and forum, university chapel reflects an Anabaptist/Mennonite perspective alongside the diverse gifts, traditions and cultures of the broader Christian faith.

A university chapel is held every Wednesday and Friday from 10:00-10:30 a.m. in the C.K. Lehman Auditorium. Seminary chapels are held regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Martin Chapel.

All students, faculty and staff of the university are expected to regularly participate in chapel experiences at EMU, and regular chapel attendance will be considered in faculty reviews. Students, faculty and staff are expected to attend at least one university or seminary chapel per week.

When employees attend any chapel, faculty/staff meetings or other all-school functions which may occur during regular working hours, attendance is considered to be paid “EMU time.”
