Practicum students are expected to adhere to these roles and responsibilities:

  1. Work the hours agreed upon at the agency.
  2. The student agrees to be professional in the agency setting at all times.
  3. Have daily informal supervision and weekly formal supervision at the agency.
  4. The student operates as a team player closely leaning on agency supervision.
  5. The student remains a curious learner both personally and professionally freely asking questions with the goal to gain insight and grow.
  6. The student completes all required paperwork in the agency setting and for the seminar class in a professional, thorough and timely manner.
  7. Attend the weekly EMU seminar class.
  8. The student works from a "best practice" standard following the NASW Code of Ethics.
  9. Demonstrate professional growth in social work competencies and practice skills.
  10. Cultivate self-care rituals and routines to prevent compassion fatigue
