Purpose

Educate about sexual/relationship violence and related issues, prevention of sexual/relationship violence, University policies and procedures, and campus and community resources. Works to improve campus coordination and response as it relates to sexual/relationship violence. Fulfills the requirement of the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) grant to establish a permanent campus CCRT to address response and prevention to sexual/relationship violence.

Decisions

Decisions related to sexual/relationship violence response and prevention on campus. This includes decisions about policy changes, updates, or proposals; development of or updates to response protocols; and campus prevention activities.
CCRT has the following working groups: policy working group, response working group, and prevention working group. Working groups bring decisions, products, and other outputs to the larger CCRT for review.
Approval of CCRT decisions related to student programming are through Student Life. Institutional changes are approved through the Provost's Council.

Membership

Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) grant manager, dean of students, Title IX coordinator, coordinator of safety and security, and director of counseling services.
Representatives from the following areas on campus: student life, academic success, faculty, Lancaster site, Washington DC site,graduate programs, IEP, and athletics.
Representatives from the following community agencies: Collins Center, Harrisonburg Police Department, Sentara RMH, and First Step.
3-4 student representatives and other faculty/staff from the campus community as interested or relevant.

Chair

Working groups are chaired by Title IX coordinator (policy), dean of students (response),and OVW grant manager (prevention).

Reporting

Communication flows from working group chairs to the larger CCRT via in-person reporting and email. Communication flows to the campus community from the CCRT chair via email.

Meetings

Meetings of the full CCRT occur twice each semester. Working groups meet every 4-6 weeks.
