- Fume Hoods
- Only material and equipment directly related to the experiment in progress is to be kept in the fume hood.
- Each fume hood is marked with a working sash height mark. Work requiring fume hood protection shall not be conducted with the sash opened beyond that mark.
- Hoods with sashes opened to the working height must have a ventilation flow rate > 60 linear feet per minute.
- Fume hoods should be checked by the user each day prior to use. The controller should have a green signal, and there should be evidence of air flow.
- Fume hoods should be inspected and tested quarterly by the Chemical Hygiene Officer during the months when the hoods are in use.
- Work/experiments in a hood will be discontinued whenever maintenance or repair of the system is being performed.
- Fume hoods will be inspected and tested after repairs are made to the supply/exhaust system.
- Other Local Exhaust/Containment Systems
- Glove Boxes will be tested for leaks prior to use on the day of use.
- Fume Hoods
