Appendix I - SAFETY DATA SHEETS

Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are the backbone of the EMU Chemical Safety Program.  OSHA requires chemical manufacturers and importers to produce one SDS for each hazardous chemical they manufacture or import.  SDSs are maintained at EMU, and provide detailed health and property information. EMU has a file of SDSs on the counter in the hallway across from Room 25 (The Organic Chemistry lab). Laboratory supervisors, employees, and students can get a copy of any SDS by contacting the Chemical Hygiene Officer (laurie.yoder@emu.edu) or searching the Internet using the words "SDS" and the chemical name.
