Commuter Students
At EMU, commuter students are those who do not live in a residence hall. To qualify for commuter status, students must meet one of the following criteria:
- Live with parents or legal guardians in Augusta, Highland, Page, Rockingham, or Shenandoah counties in Virginia.
- Be at least 23 years old by September 1 of the academic year for which off-campus housing is requested.
- Be married or a custodial parent.
- Have already lived on campus at EMU for six semesters.
Commuter students need to submit the same annual housing form as residential students. This form is required each academic year to continue or grant commuter status. For more information and to access the housing form, log into MyEMU and select the “Housing” tab.
