Convocation, Campus Worship, Convo Breakout Gatherings Attendance Policy
Convocation, campus worship and convo breakout gatherings enhance a culture of campus engagement around EMU core values and commitments. To facilitate the undergraduate campus community attending and supporting these gatherings from 10:10-11 a.m. on Wednesdays, meetings/events are not scheduled and offices, programs and departments are closed during this time period, with the exception of essential services and/or offices/programs serving graduate students or the greater community. In addition, seminary chapels are held regularly on Tuesdays from 11:00-11:45 in the Martin Chapel.
Faculty and staff are expected to regularly participate in convocation, campus worship and/or convo breakout gatherings to engage with students and each other around EMU core values and commitments.
“Regular attendance” means attending as often as possible to maximize engagement, recognizing that this may vary in particular individual circumstances. Attendance twice per month should be a minimal goal.
When employees attend any convocation, campus worship, convo breakout gatherings, faculty/staff meetings, or other all-school functions which may occur during regular working hours, attendance is considered to be paid “EMU time.”
