Traditional Program Second DegreeĀ Option
Persons with a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing may enter the second degree option of the nursingĀ program.Ā Each applicant's academic record will be reviewed individually. The length of the program for second degree students who have completed prerequisites is four semesters during fall and spring.
Admission requirements
A baccalaureate degree must be completed at the time of application
2.8 cumulativeĀ GPAĀ or higher at time of application
Prerequisites:Ā
Anatomy/physiology I and IIĀ (both must be taken at the same institution)
One chemistry courseĀ (general, inorganic, organic, or biochemistry)
One psychology courseĀ (developmental psychology across the life span preferred)
One sociology courseĀ (must have a SOC prefix; examples includeĀ Intro to SociologyĀ orĀ Principles of Sociology. Other sociology courses by approval only)
One microbiology courseĀ (must include a lab)
One nutrition courseĀ (minimum 2 SH)
One statistics courseĀ
One speech course
All prerequisite courses must be passed with a C or higher.
Prerequisite courses may still be in progress at the time of application but must be completed prior to beginning the clinical level of the program.
Prerequisite courses taken more than 10 years ago will not be accepted.
Applicants must first be admitted to the university before the nursing program will consider the nursing application.
